Vangelis (Evangelos Papathanassiou) (1943 - 2022) was a Greek composer of electronic, new age and classical music and a musical performer. He was best known for his Academy Award winning score for the film 'Chariots of Fire'.
Having had a career in music spanning 50 years and having complosed and performed more than 50 albums, he is best known for his Academy Award winning score for the film 'Chariots of Fire', and for the scores for the films 'Blade Runner' and '1492: Conquest of Paradise'.
