Vanessa-Mae studied at the Royal College of Music in London and at aged thirteen, became the youngest soloist to record both the Beethoven and Tchaikovsky violin concertos.
In April 2006, the UK's Sunday Times Rich list ranked Vanessa-Mae as the wealthiest young entertainer under 30 with an estimated fortune of $64 million from concerts and record sales. She has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide which is unprecedented for a young female violinist.
In 2010 Mae decided to take up competitive skiing and was one of the two alpine skiers who represented Thailand at the 2014 Wincter Olympics where she competed under the name of 'Vanessa Vanakorn'
