Sheku Kanneh-Mason

Sheku Kanneh-Mason is a renowned British cellist, widely recognized for his remarkable talent and accomplishments at a young age. Born on April 4, 1999, in Nottingham, he comes from a musical family and began playing the cello at the age of six. His passion for music was evident early on, and he later went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London.


Kanneh-Mason rose to international fame after winning the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year award, which marked a pivotal moment in his career. Since then, he has performed with prestigious orchestras, collaborated with top conductors, and appeared on major global stages, including performing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.


In addition to his musical achievements, Sheku Kanneh-Mason is an advocate for diversity in classical music, often speaking about the importance of making the genre more accessible to people from all backgrounds.
